SunPower

About Our Client

Solar products and services provider SunPower Corporation develops high-efficiency solar solutions for homes, businesses, commercial buildings, and utilities across the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, and Asia. The sheer size of SunPower’s business is a great advantage but also one of its greatest challenges when it comes to Enterprise Resource Planning. dotSolved helped Sunpower merge its existing multiple ERP systems to optimize processes and realize business success.

Business Challenges

SunPower was running its systems using QAD system and Powerlight Corp, which was acquired by SunPower when it was running its systems in MS-Great Plains. The multiple ERP systems within the corporation meant information is spread among various systems, which resulted in a lack of centralized control and location of all data storage and access.

Other significant challenges posed by having multiple ERP systems include:

  • Multiplied cost of ownership
  • Unnecessary integration expenses
  • Complicated upgrade process
  • Lack of collaboration across business functions

SunPower needed a highly-reliable technology partner to implement a suitable ERP solution that can unify its business functions.

Our Solution

SunPower chose dotSolved to evaluate its business requirements, and to select an ERP solution for its manufacturing and construction businesses.

dotSolved and SunPower jointly led the project. dotSolved implemented 20 Oracle R12 Modules covering the solar innovation leader’s businesses in 18 countries, including operations at its headquarters in San Jose, CA.

The rollout of initial modules concluded in 15 months. dotSolved continues to work with SunPower on its future Oracle enhancements and new entity rollouts. Among the post-implementation programs include GOP, inter-company automation, S&OP, ASCP automation, etc.
